Who says you can’t have ice cream for breakfast? At Oh Yeah! Ice Cream & Coffee Co., the frozen treat is a healthy way to start the day. This funky little shop in the Shadyside-East Liberty area serves up organic ice cream and soy-based vegan ice cream — fitting fare for a store built entirely from recycled products. Select an ice cream to mix in the “Swirl Daddy” machine with your choice of more than 100 different ingredients — from organic granola, fresh fruit, and nuts to Oreos, marshmallows, and coconut; if you’re feeling adventur-ous, try the salmon, ginger, avocado, or habanero mix-ins. Plop a scoop on top of an organic buttermilk, buckwheat, or cinnamon waffle, and breakfast is served. Baked goods from local suppliers and a full cereal bar are also on hand. If you’d like coffee with your breakfast, the shop brews organic blends from around the world. Oh Yeah! stays open late each night — just in case you want your ice cream fix later in the day.
